The Artist
William Strauss
Four decades of scientific investigation, a lifetime of seeing — now turned toward the interior landscape.
William Strauss creates psychologically charged mental landscapes from original pen-and-ink drawings, photographs, invented symbols, and fragments of written language.
Drawing upon a career in medical and scientific investigation, he builds layered compositions that move between natural observation, memory, cognition, and interior experience. William is in transition from a 40-plus-year career in genetics and immunology to contemporary visual arts — a lifelong interest, held since his earliest days, now at the center of his practice. His work embodies the intersection of his artistic and scientific interests.
Each work is composed digitally and realized through dye sublimation on aluminum, whose luminosity and depth are integral to the finished piece.
